Nothing here starts with a product. It starts with an inventory of what actually crosses the floor, because on a dry site the traffic is the whole specification.

  1. Inventory the traffic

    Truck weights and wheel material, pallet jack use, the routes they take and the hours they run. A rigid wheel is the detail that catches people out, because it turns a modest load into a very high pressure at the one small spot where it meets the slab.

  2. Map the wear, not the room

    Wear is never even. The aisle, the turn at the racking end and the loading zone take most of it. Mapping that lets the film build be heavier where the punishment is and thinner where it is not, which is where the budget is saved.

  3. Specify thickness and marking together

    The build depth, the aisle lines, safety zones and any static requirement get named as one specification, so the marking is part of the floor rather than paint applied on top of it afterwards.

  4. Install by zone, hand back by zone

    Work runs in sections between shifts or inside a planned shutdown, and each zone is released on its own timetable so production never stops entirely.

The most expensive mistake on a dry floor is specifying it like a wet one. Urethane cement is a superb material and it is built to survive thermal shock and chemical wash-down. Paying for that in a print shop buys nothing the operation will ever use.

We never wash down. Do we still need an industrial system?
You need an industrial thickness, not necessarily an industrial chemistry. The thing separating a plant floor from a commercial one on a dry site is film build and topcoat hardness, both specified for the traffic. That is a considerably cheaper answer than the urethane cement a wash-down site would need, and it is the right one here.
Forklifts run all day. What thickness does that need?
Wheel material matters more than the weight on the plate. A small truck rolling on rigid wheels presses its whole load through a contact area the size of a coin, while a heavier machine on softer tyres spreads the same load across far more floor. So we ask what the wheels are made of, then set the depth in the lanes from that.
Can you do anti-static or ESD flooring?
Yes, as a dissipative or conductive build with a grounding grid laid into it. It needs deciding early: the earth points and the copper path are installed as part of the floor and cannot be retrofitted. If you are working to a specific resistance range, name it up front so the system is selected against the number rather than the description.
Our concrete dusts constantly. Will this stop it?
Completely, and for a lot of sites it is the main reason to coat. The dust comes from the surface of the slab breaking down under traffic. Once it is sealed there is no exposed concrete left to shed, which usually shows up first as less cleaning around the machines rather than as anything visible on the floor.
How long does a floor like this actually last?
On a dry site with a build matched to the traffic, many years of full production before it needs attention, and when it does need it the fix is normally a topcoat refresh in the lanes rather than a full replacement. Floors that fail early almost always turn out to have been specified thinner than the traffic justified.
Do you coat underneath the racking?
It is worth doing while the racking is out, and it is worth deciding deliberately. Coating the whole slab means no bare joint lines where the uprights meet the floor collecting debris. If the racking cannot move, we coat up to the feet and mask them, which works fine and leaves a visible boundary you should see before agreeing to it.
